Committee Against Repression in Iran (CARI) was formed to build broad-based campaigns on various aspects of repression in Iran, especially in regards to political prisoners, the British trade union, labor and student movements. This issue focuses on building support for Iranian political prisoner defense. It also includes a report on a seven day hunger strike staged by Iranian moslem clergymen in Paris who called for the release of prisoners and SAVAK killings of student strikers at Tabriz University. The students demanded that instruction in the province of Azarbaijan be inclusive of Turkish, the language native to the region.
